Venable Training - Synthesis and Simulation

By Ford Mays - April 26, 2024

Ford Mays, Systems and Application Engineer at Venable, demonstrates how to use the Synthesis and Simulation features of Venable’s Stability Analysis Software to create and simulate a feedback circuit for a Power Supply modulator and combine datasets to observe the overall loop gain of the Power Supply.

The synthesis feature allows a design engineer to choose a feedback topology and specify a crossover frequency and phase margin for loop gain.  The simulation feature then allows the design engineer to observe the frequency response of the synthesized circuit.  Then, using the Math Functions within Venable’s Stability Analysis Software, the frequency response of the feedback circuit can be combined with the measured modulator data to reveal the overall loop gain.
