Venable Instruments is currently shipping Version 6 of the Stability Analysis Software with our laboratory grade instruments. Version 6 is a major update with respect to the software build platform and Graphical User Interface, primarily. Users will find the same functionality and features within Version 6 that they are familiar with. This software milestone will be a vehicle for future platform expansion, ensuring our customer's are working with the best tools available.
In Version 6, native Windows USB drivers are used, eliminating driver installation headaches. No GPIB drivers are provided with Version 6.
New instruments shipped with Version 6 can still be used with Version 5, which continues to be supported.
To see if your instrument can run Version 6, you need to check your instrument's firmware revision level. See below.
Venable Stability Analysis Software Versions 5 and 6 use the same software licensing system, so no new license is needed.
With Version 6, the data file (.ven files) format changes and is incompatible with Version 5. However, a bidirectional data file format converter is available (see Software Downloads, below).
In Version 6, the RLC Software is integrated with the Stability Analysis Software (however, a separate license is required for activation).
To determine if your FRA has the required firmware revisions to work with Stability Analysis Software Version 6, open the "Analyzer Control Menu" window the the Stability Analysis Software. Click on the "ver?" button near the bottom of the window, and the FRA's current firmware revision levels will be displayed. The Version 6 recommended firmware revision levels are:
1.) Application F/W ver. 4.4,
2.) Communication F/W ver 3.0 (minimum), and
3.) Bootloader F/W ver 1.6.
If your FRA does not have the minimum required firmware revisions, you will not be able to use Venable Stability Analysis Software Version 6. If you need to update your firmware, please contact us so we may assist (you will not need to return your instrument and firmware updates do NOT affect calibration).
Version 6 is intended for current models of Venable FRAs, and will not work with legacy instruments (e.g. 5060, 350a/b, 3XXX, etc.).
Venable Stability Analysis Software Version 5 will continue to be supported for legacy instrument users.
Venable RLC Software Version 4 is supported for Stability Analysis Software Version 5 Users
Venable Instruments' Model 5140 FRA will continue to have its own software, Model 5140 Stability Analysis , Version 6.
The Venable Reader Software allows users to view Venable data files (currently Version 5 '.ven' files only).
